The physical volume index was 108.8 percent against the same period last year. Mining added 8.9 percent, building materials grew by a third and food products by 8.4 percent.

Growth in output almost always outruns growth in control. Equipment runs longer, service intervals come sooner, spare part and fuel consumption rises, while the records stay the same: a notebook, a spreadsheet, the memory of a mechanic. That is the moment a company first notices it does not know its cost by site.
