When you need it
The service is relevant if the company faces:
- no single register of measuring instruments
- overdue verification or calibration
- frequent failures of sensors and instruments
- readings that disagree between instruments
- unstable or unreliable measurements
- no clear maintenance schedule for instrumentation
- no history of repairs, verifications and replacements
- the difficulty of keeping track of many instruments across different sites
- no record of spare and stored instruments
- the need to reduce the risk of running equipment on faulty or unverified instruments
- preparation for an internal or external audit
What you get
On completion the client receives:
- a structured register of measuring instruments
- instruments classified by type, site and operating zone
- a list of instruments subject to verification, calibration and maintenance
- a verification and calibration schedule
- a planned maintenance schedule
- control over the validity of certificates
- a history of repairs, verifications, calibrations and replacements
- a list of critical and problem instruments
- recommendations on a reserve pool of instruments
- recommendations on replacing outdated or unreliable instruments
- a way of tracking failures and recurring faults
- recommendations on spare parts and the exchange pool required
- a set of indicators for monitoring instrumentation condition
- a technical report and a corrective action plan
Where required, a single instrumentation record system is designed for further use in ERP, EAM or CMMS.
How it works
- We run the inventory. We collect data on every instrument: type, model, serial number, installation point, measured parameter, range, accuracy class, manufacturer and current condition.
- We build a single register. We structure the equipment by production site, system, type of measurement and criticality.
- We check metrological status. We analyse the dates of the last and next verification or calibration, the certificates held and compliance with the requirements in force.
- We analyse technical condition. We study the history of failures, repairs, replacements and recurring faults, and identify instruments with a raised risk of failure or unreliable readings.
- We build the maintenance schedules. We define the frequency of verification, calibration, diagnostics and maintenance for each category of instrument.
- We define criticality. We single out the instruments whose failure can affect safety, production, product quality or the operation of process equipment.
- We draw up recommendations. We prepare actions on repair, replacement, standardisation of instruments, a reserve pool and higher reliability of the measurement system.
- We set up control. We build a system of notifications, reporting and indicators covering verification deadlines, equipment condition and the completion of planned actions.
The outcome
The company gets a transparent way of managing instrumentation, where it is clear:
- which instruments are in service
- where they are installed
- when verification or calibration is due
- which instruments need repair or replacement
- which items are critical
- which instruments have to be kept in reserve
- where the risk of unreliable measurement lies
This raises the reliability of the measurement system, cuts the number of unplanned failures and keeps instruments ready for service.
